Final Countdown 2015

"Celebrate what you want to see more of"--Tom Peters

There is much to celebrate during this time of year. You may be celebrating Hanukkah, Christmas, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, or many other occasions. Many of these holidays celebrate something that happened in the past, giving us cause to reflect on an event in history. New Year's Eve, on the other hand, is not just an opportunity to reflect on the year behind us; it is a celebration of new beginnings and kindling our hope for a good year ahead. Here at First, We Dance, we want to see more people dancing just for fun; therefore, this is what we will celebrate every day in 2016.

Our dance this week is to "The Final Countdown" by Europe. We felt it was appropriate as we countdown the final days of 2015, and might even give you some dance moves you can use at a New Year's Eve Party. The first video is a compilation of all the moves, and the second video breaks down the choreography so you can learn each move separately. Below our videos, you can see the original music video from Europe, which is very educational if you missed the 80's and "hair bands". That video has some great moves as well, including Hairography. Remember--we'd love for you to learn the dances, film your own video, and please tag us if you do! And of course, remember to like, follow us, and share the post!

The Final Countdown was originally released in 1986 by Europe, who are from Sweden. In the video you can see some of the beautiful Swedish landscapes and coastlines, as well as some typical 80's fashions such as leather pants and jackets, permed hair, and muscle tanks. The Final Countdown reached no. 1 in 25 countries and is a favorite at sporting events; however some have categorized it as the 'worst rock songs ever made', and others call it 'so bad it's good'. We sympathize with the latter; this song is so repetitive we just can't get it out of our heads, but we can't stop dancing to it either! We have a dream of seeing some of these dance moves being done any time this song is played!
